Letter of Understanding - January 28, 2009
Due to the large number of employees being displaced as a result of the recent layoffs and in lieu of declassifying displaced employees and placing them in entry, a new classification will be added for a period of 6 months, February 9, 2009 to August 9, 2009. The following provisions apply to this "temporary" classification:
- Least senior employees will be moved to this classification when they are displaced from their current classification due to lack of work.
- Employees in this classification can be moved to any job within the company.
- Employees in this classification will be paid at the wage progression level of the job they are performing, based upon their seniority. Pay will be adjusted on a weekly basis, to the job they are performing at the beginning of the week.
- Employees are allowed to bump for shift within this classification.
- Employees in this classification are allowed to sign for posted positions and will be awarded those positions based on seniority.
- Prior to the end of the 6 month period, the union and company agree to meet to determine what classification the employees remaining in the "temporary" classification will be moved to.
This Letter of Understanding is not intended to be precedent setting.
The current Temporary Transfer language in the union contract will also be utilized to move employees as necessary to run the manufacturing operations efficiently. |
